Mystery Abounds
Encaustic
Gallery 31 is a fine art gallery — salon style — displaying striking original artwork created by Cape artists selected for a lifetime of creativity and artistic ability. Oils, pastels, watercolors, encaustic, and acrylic paintings adorn the walls at Gallery 31 — seascapes, landscapes, and still lifes. Cape scenes — beaches, bogs, harbors, lighthouses, and local landmarks — are captured in many Gallery 31 paintings, and we also display select handmade jewelry and small gift items related to the original work of our artists.
Gallery 31 is open daily from spring through fall from 10 am to 5 pm on Mondays through Saturdays and from 12 to 5 pm on Sundays. Stop by, give yourself a treat and meet Pierre, our life size legendary “artist in residence” who resides on our front bench, welcoming visitors. You’ll always find one of the artists present to answer questions about the about themselves, the other artists, or the artwork.
This year we welcome three new artists: Tilda McGee Bystrom, Louise Lamontagne, and Sherry Rhyno. Cape painters, they bring a wide spectrum of styles and media to the Gallery 31 mix. They join the other seven artists known well at Gallery 31 — Todd Bowman Ash, Robina Carter, George Corbellini, Maureen Leavenworth, Pat Martin, Marilyn Schofield, and Laurel Wilson. The style of artwork varies from impressionist to representational.
