Landscape and Still Life Artist in Oil and Pastel
After a long and successful career in marketing and branding financial institutions and higher education, Paula David has reconnected with her artistic roots to pursue a life as a full-time artist. She paints what she loves, capturing the beauty and the character of Cape Cod and the Islands in oil and pastel.
Paula and her husband Ken divide their time between Worcester and the Cape, where they lovingly restored a quintessential 1920’s cottage in Brewster. Several years back they combined their love of the Cape with their love of mermaids to found Cape Mermaid, an apparel and home goods brand that celebrates the coastal lifestyle.
Paula is a graduate of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where she studied marketing and visual communications. She began her career as a graphic designer and creative director for several advertising agencies and later rose to be a senior-level marketing executive and well-known brand strategist. She built and cultivated several world-class marketing organizations and branded some of the nation’s largest and most respected higher education and financial institutions, earning numerous national awards for excellence in her field.
In addition to her professional pursuits, she is a member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Children’s Circle of Care at Boston Children’s Hospital, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Worcester Boys and Girls Club and Discover Central Mass.
Paula continues to hone her craft and has studied with many of the Cape’s foremost artists including Jeanne Rosier Smith, Deborah Quinn-Munson, Rosalie Nadeau, Paul Schulenburg, and Steve Kennedy. She has been juried into many national and regional art exhibitions and often can be found painting on site locally, including at Gallery 31 Fine Art.
